Dunn County has 3,364 acres of lakes with great fishing in winter and summer.
Panfish, bass, walleye, and northern pike abound. With 198 miles of trout streams,
it's a trout fisherman's dream. Several boat launching sites offer the opportunity to
fish, water ski, or take a leisurely ride and see towering pines and majestic
eagles. Plentiful rivers beckon the canoe enthusiast.
Red Cedar Trail
The 14.5 mile Red Cedar State Trail follows the Red Cedar River from Menomonie to
Dunnville where it joins with the 20 mile long Chippewa Valley Trail to Eau Claire. The
Red Cedar Trail, with its crushed limestone surface, is perfect for hiking, biking or
cross country skiing. Bike and ski rentals are available in Menomonie. Trail passes
for biking, cross-country skiing and in-line skating are required for everyone 16
years and older on the state portion of the Chippewa River Trail and all of the Red
Cedar State Trail. The cost is $15 for an annual pass and $4 for a daily pass. Passes
may be purchased along the trail.
Visitors can find Hoffman Hills State Park from Menomonie by following I-94
East to Highway 40 N. Follow to County Highway E West. Follow to 740th Street
and turn right. Hoffman Hills will be on the right. The park offers a 705 acre
recreational area with nine miles of hiking trails and a 60 foot observation
tower at the top of the hill.
